One of the biggest misconceptions among aspiring network marketers is the belief that the way to incredible wealth in
multi-level marketing is to pitch their products and opportunity to their friends and family. Nothing could be further from the truth
and potentially more destructive. And, the sad fact is that this marketing technique, if you can even call it that, is the dominant
approach taught by MLM companies to their distributors.
Not only will this approach to growing an MLM business doom 98% of those who try it but, to make things even worse, this
approach can ruin friendships and close family relationships in the process.
In this article I want to give you 3 powerful reasons why this approach stinks and then I will share with you a solution to the
problem.
Reason # 1: Your friends and family don't want your product
Real marketing is based on the following:

Identifying your target market. Your target market are those who have a pre-existing want, need or dersire for the
benefits your product delivers.

Getting your marketing message (your ad, your website, etc.) in front of your target audience.
When you approach your warm market you are not doing so becuase they're in your target market you are doing so because you have a
relationship with that person. Leveraging relationships for financial gain is not only bad marketing but it's bad for relationships.
Reason # 2: You don't have enough family and friends
So let's say you make a list of everybody in your warm market as most MLM companies instruct their new distributors to do and you
come up with 100 names. It's likely that some of those of those people would also fit into your target market, right? Sure, that's
true. So let's say that 50 out of those 100 people actually buy your product and/or join your comapany. Where does that leave
you? You've now exhasuted your warm market...who do you market to now?
You see, you're still going to have to have more people to market to becuase you're never going to make significant income from
so few people in your MLM downline.
Reason # 3: Duplication doesn't work
"Duplication" sounds like this...
You bring in 3 people, who each bring in 3 people, who each bring in 3 people, and so on...
Duplication is the biggest myth in network marketing. The theory is that once you bring people into your MLM business
you'll then be able to "tap into" their warm market. And so, as the fairy tale goes you can keep churing and chugging along...
This doesn't work in reality...so it's best to forget about it.
